Threatened Species Management

Hydro Tasmania has 56 listed fauna species and 178 listed flora species on land that it manages. These listings are under the Tasmanian Threatened Species Protection Act 1995 (TSPA) and the Australian Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBCA).

We have procedures in place to ensure that the work we do meets the requirements of these Acts. We also go beyond compliance and have projects under the Land Management Program which address particular issues with threatened species on Hydro Tasmania land. For example, we have developed an individual management plan for the threatened Ptunarra Brown Butterfly.

As well as responding to threatened species issues as they arise, we do strategic risk assessments to allow us to best target our threatened species management efforts.
